October 1st 630am Hot Yoga practice to kick off my 30 Day Challenge – Am I even awake yet?
I arrive to the studio so excited for my practice that I didn’t bring my mat, towel, water, or wallet. Well, at least I made it! It’s beautiful and I am really excited to start teaching here next week.
I love letting go of the voice that wants to stay in bed forever to get on my mat this morning… and every morning! Even if when I get there my eyes are still closed, and my shirt is on inside out, these are tiny victories my friends, but victories none the less.
“The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.” ~Rumi
Im so happy in my practice this morning, I notice about 20 minutes into class Ive had a huge smirk on my face the whole time.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life, Yours too!
I feel a very contagious “try and stop me from being happy” energy inside of me. Its so, so good. Fall is a colourful time of transformation inside and out; A time of harvest and reflection to all of the seeds we have planted and what has come to fruition.
Determined, I flow with my breath and move deeper; I am a wild and free as a Dancer, I sharpen my vision in Eagle, and find such gracious surrender in a forward fold and any thoughts of the world around me fall away.
I watch the Light come into the day from my stance in Downward Dog; it’s absolutely glorious. A strong reminder for me that I am exactly where I need to be in this moment, in this day overflowing with potential. So I wag my tail. Celebrate!
Today would have been my Grandpas 88th birthday – double infinity! My smile grew even brighter when our teacher had us close our eyes and draw infinity symbols within. I spent this afternoon with my Grandma who always gives such a joyous perspective to life’s changes.
“You’ve got miracles in your life happening all the time. My life with your Gramp was a miracle. We were just kids back then and look at all that has come of it! Im 86 and still live in this home we built together, We have the greatest family, I can still drive, my mind is good, and my body is strong most days. My life is a miracle.
The biggest blessing is being able to know how lucky we are; How far you have come, and how many times you could have quit, but you didn’t! Sometimes I just wake up and choose to be happy because from the moment my eyes open and feet hit the floor. Im so blessed.” ~Nanny
How do I recognize the miracles in my life?
Might as well go back into the Hot Room for a Flow class at 5pm and go a little deeper.
I love full classes, and this class is really special. I know and adore so many people in this space. Theres a power crew around me of seriously determined yogis and we are all encouraging each other with smiles and breath.
Non verbal communication and connection is nourishing my heart and soul moment to moment. I am here. The community at Moksha Yoga Fredericton has truly blown me away, I am so excited to see how we grow together.
This mornings smirk is a full blown toothy grin and a wave of excitement pulses through me. Interesting how when I get past my minds story that I find so much space inside where I can grow, breathe, dream, adventure! I AM ALIVE! aaaaand dripping sweat everywhere. I look like I am melting and may just be a puddle of milk chocolate by the end this of class.
I came home tonight smiling, happy, happy, happy.
The most important thing is this breath, inhale gratitude, and with the exhale settle into all of the victories and blessings no matter how big or small.
Wake with the sun and know in your heart that no matter what the day brings that you are a miracle.
